The MasterMind Methodology
MasterMind Prep uses a unique learning process that accelerates academic growth faster than conventional tutoring and teaching methods. The 5-step MasterMind Methodology is rooted in more than 40 years of scientific evidence and our experience that “all students are MasterMinds” who can achieve at dramatically higher levels if taught with methods that allow them to succeed.
This proven approach delivers powerful results–whether with face-to-face or live online instructors. Our students have averaged gains of about one grade level in reading or math for every 30 hours of instruction since 2002.
How We Get Results For Our Students
1. Assess For Needs
Like going to the doctor, we start with nationally respected diagnostic assessments to pinpoint each student’s true skill level, strengths and weaknesses because apparent learning needs are not always the root cause.
2. Set Personal Goals
Based on pre-testing, students are placed in a curriculum sequence so they can succeed and advance quickly. Goals are set to stretch students in achievable steps and raised as they are achieved.
3. Teach to Mastery
Our expert instructors and interactive programs use proven, mastery methods and carefully designed curriculum to present skills and concepts step-by-step so students understand quickly. Students must show mastery to a 90 percent standard before moving ahead or we teach again.
4. Correct Errors and Reward Success
Our instructors are trained to correct errors immediately and build confidence with positive encouragement and reinforcement.
5. Practice. Practice. Practice.
Like great athletes and musicians, we believe there is no substitute for hard work and practice. Our students use independent practice, adaptive learning and timed exercises to strengthen new skills, automatic recall and endurance.
6. Measure Progress
Instructors monitor and log each student’s progress weekly for students, parents and learning coaches to see. If progress isn’t growing, we adjust instruction.
